8 Kim Tian Pl
5 Room
Spaces in our HDBs are rarely organically shaped. After finding out that curves from the facade were reflected onto the inside, the designer thought it would have been a missed opportunity if the interior was not a manifestation of these elegant shapes. Not only were spaces carved out by interweaving curves into the house, curves were also integrated into the furniture like wardrobes and cabinets. tying the house in a coherent and consistent manner.
Curves are a distinguishing element unique to the Kim Tian neighborhood. In this home, the designer ensures that the exterior is reflected onto the interior, resulting in spaces that are tastefully curved.
A miniature study is created by extending the curves of the building onto the interior. In addition, the boundary between the living room and the kitchen is carefully manipulated to imitate the curves from the building facade. This also creates a small entryway for users and act as a threshold between the two zones.
The edge of the cabinet is also alter to allow for smoother transition.
As the sun sets in the distance, the world becomes tinted with orange. The warm, relaxed atmosphere reminds us that it’s okay to take things slow.
Wood is an essential element that repeats itself throughout the house. Wood with white gives a combination of calmness and peacefulness. Coupled with gold accents throughout the house, small details like how the door aligns with the wooden frame of the study and the curved corners of the cabinets and floor results in a kind of inexplicable order. An extra room is formed in the initial living room and doesn’t feel obtrusive but instead feels natural, as if it was meant to be.
